Hotbed of talent: The case of Xpertdoc
The Carrefour de la nouvelle économie (CNÉ) has just completed its fifth phase of development in Terrebonne. The innovative businesses in the region now have 150 000 square feet of spaces devoted to state-of-the-art activities.

In three years, Xpertdoc will have tripled in volume. The company has developed a software product that bridges the information technologies (IT) and the business world by facilitating the production of automated reports.
In 2003, the micro-enterprise was seeking assistance for its development. Without an external source of capital and with limited human means, it was offered a place to set up shop within the CNÉ, which had just opened its doors.
Tenants benefit from a fiscal measure dedicated to the new economy. “This gave us the help we needed to get started, to sign a long term lease and to hire the first employees,” relates Francis Dion, President of Xpertdoc.
The company today employs ten people. Its next expansion phase will enable it to triple the company’s business volume. Several openings are in view on the international market: the SME has developed contacts with Japan and Netherlands and is currently in
discussions with the Kingdom of Bahrain, in the Middle East. Francis Dion looks forward to continuing to count on the financial support of the CNÉ, at least until 2013, when the measure will end.
But the initial help does not stop there. The President of Xpertdoc discovered this when Japanese clients came to visit. “I received
unparalleled service from the CLDEM, which helped me with everything from welcoming these prestigious visitors, finding lodging and food, to choosing gifts with a local flavour. This may seem
a small detail, but it too was part of the success of the innovation.”
